Iraq and Public Information

Posted Wed Jan 28, 2004 in

While working through my regular awhile back, I found a link to this article on The Messopotamian.

While I’m not familiar with this particular blogger, I do believe that he or she has some excellent points to make about reaching the Iraqi people. Apparently, there is little open news coverage, other than some of the Arab-run stations, and the blogger feels that those reports are biased and not getting information to the Iraqi’s that they need.

I agree that this is a problem. Now, with all of our technology, maybe one of the first things we should build is a satellite news station and allow existing Iraqi reports to do their jobs. I think that American-Iraqi relations could be substantially improved.

  1. That link is slightly off, it appears. I think you've got an unnecessary subdomain in it. Try reading Healing Iraq, too. In fact, click the links for all the Iraqi blogs you find at those sites; it's enlightening and depressing and encouraging and maddening. Linkmeister    28 January 2004, 17:44    #

  2. Hmm. That should have been a link. Ok, you seem to have stripped html out of here, so here it is. http://healingiraq.blogspot.com/ Linkmeister    28 January 2004, 17:46    #

  3. I'll fix the llnk in a minute. Yes, I stopped allowing posting of URL's here. I got a run of comment spam a couple of weeks ago that really ticked me off. So, we're back to cut and paste URL's again. At least that makes my site less valuable to comment spammers. And I agree about the feelings evoked by reading the Iraqi bloggers. :) ruminator    28 January 2004, 20:23    #
