Bloggish
I’m not really sure what to write this evening. It hasn’t been a particularly spectacular day, but not a bad day either.
In fact, it’s been an odd day. I started out the morning with a cup of coffee and an overview of the overnight email. As normal, there was the usual clump of SPAM and a few messages of interest. I grabbed a bowl of cereal to keep my stomach quiet. Older Son awoke and I had him cut my hair, which has been needing to be done for a while now. I showered and got dressed and went to work on Young Son’s computer, trying to get the local printing service operational. I decided that an OS upgrade was probably required.
We had lunch with friends and one of them hung around the house for awhile this afternoon just visiting. We talked for a long time. After she left, Wife and I got a snort nap and then I started working on the computer again.
The system is currently downloading the updates that are always required after a system upgrade. The network is operational and the firewall is in place. I’ll finish the remaining installs this evening, but it will probably take another day or two to finish tweaking the system.
A thundershower is passing off to the southwest of the city. Wife and I stood outside for awhile, just listening to the sound of the thunder and watching the lightning. I’m always reminded of Daughter and Dad when I watch a thundershower. There was an summer afternoon shortly before Dad died when Daughter, He, and I stood outside his place in Missouri, just watching a thundershower, together, quiet. The sound and mist and experience of it washed over us, as a group. None of us were compelled to speak while we stood out on the porch. It was just an experience.
That memory welled up within me this afternoon as Wife and I stood there, together, watching. We talked about it for awhile, then when the rain started, we went back inside. I worked on the computer while Wife made a little supper for us.
Now I’m working on the computer again. The storm has passed, and so has the memory. I guess I had something to write about after all.
Nice…
