Uncertainty

I don’t mean the kind of uncertainty that is quantifiable using statistics; I mean that I am uncertain about what’s next. That’s true for my weblog, my other professional web site, and just things in general.

I haven’t been writing much here, although I’m writing a lot in other places. There are a number of reports to get out and I just finished a rush job on a small project. I do the second in my seminar series today at noon and think I’ll take the afternoon off.

I put too much time into this talk, but there was a lot of review to do that will pay off for one of the next reports on my list, so the time was not wasted. That report will get a lot of attention about the end of the month.

I have another research project that needs some significant attention. That will involve reading a number of papers, then working out if there is new literature that is pertinent to the problem. If so, I’ll need to acquire that work, read it, process it, and then regurgitate what I learn in a literature review that is due in another month or six weeks.

I have a trip scheduled to Tech to work on these projects. I think I’ll need some time in the library, or at least in local access to the library, so I can move this work forward. I’ll also need face time with my co-researchers so we can work out joint responsibilities for finishing the work. I’m looking forward to the trip, even if it will mean a few hard days.

Now I need to get on with my day. I just heard the clock strike 0700.
