Bloggish
I’m awake, mostly, but not. This was one of those weeks where there was simultaneously too much and not enough. Yesterday, the proposal and statement of qualifications went out, finally, about 1430. It was due at 1600. That’s pushing it a lot closer than I prefer.
I was going to carry it, but we decided to send one of the staff instead. So, my boss and I grabbed a Subway sandwich and went back to the office. I finished up a couple of things, then packed my gear for home. The early morning wore me down.
Last night I was a little punchy from the post-stress. But, I burned myself out about 1800 and fell asleep in the car waiting for Wife to finish at Target. She needed to pick up a few things and Wife and Young Son wanted fast food for supper. I decided I bowl of cereal was better (for me).
I couldn’t settle down last night, so I spent a little time wandering around Azeroth, then hit the rack and read. I found myself finishing “Jumper” about 2230 or 2300 — I can’t remember when. I wanted to finish the story and that close to the end means I just push through.
The story is decent. I would call it light science fiction, based on the premise that certain individuals can “jump” through space to points they remember. The protagonist of the story is one messed-up young man. Like I said, it’s a decent read for what it is and I can recommend it.
Now I think I’ll turn my attention back to some other books I want to work through. I need to finish Hill’s “Think…” and I’m also re-reading “White Fang” by Jack London. I read it a long time ago. There’s also a stack of books from the garage that I meant to read a few years ago but they were stowed so I had no access. Now that I have them again, I’ll have a shot at them.
I still need to work up a book list for this year. That would be a good weekend project when I need some downtime from working in the garage.
OK, I think I need some food. I certainly need a shower.
