Hump Day?

Jury BoxWoah Horse! This is a week already and it’s only Thursday and yesterday was hump day but it wasn’t and I’m pushing too many projects forward and not enough projects for the long term and I think I need more coffee!

Yesterday was another long day. It’s a hazard of duty, I know, but still… I’m not sleeping well (is anyone these days?) and so that makes it harder. But, I made progress on one of my research projects yesterday, then rode to Virginia City for the a meeting.

The meeting was held in the Storey County court house, which is a beautiful structure. I made a few images of the interior of the court room, which is still a working court room. The furnishings are beautiful and reminiscent of times long past. Although I was tired from too many long days, I still appreciated the setting.

The meeting went well and I had only a very small part to play. I have some reading to do to catch up on some USGS work that was recently published.

The meeting broke not long after dark and it had cooled substantially, especially at the altitude of Virginia City. The ride home was uneventful and pleasant and made for a nice closing to the working day. I love those gentle evening rides when it’s not necessary to push to get somewhere and I can enjoy the night air. The stars shone brightly in the western Nevada sky. The Carson City lights were beautiful when I topped the hill west from Mound House.

I need to refuel Windfola, but that can be done today. I still have plenty of fuel for a couple of trips to work and back. But, I’ll stop and refuel today anyway.

Although work is light, there is still work to do. I’m thankful for that. Life moves on…
