Searching for an iPod Interface

Posted Sun Mar 6, 2005 in

I am still on a search to fit my iPod to my automobiles. Alpine has a set of decks that will work. The KCA-420i adapter allows the iPod to be connected to the deck and give full control over the iPod.

That is exactly what I want to be able to do. I want to be able to access songs and playlists from the deck without fiddling around with the iPod. It is a safety issue as much as a convenience issue.

The truck would be relatively easy to do with a replacement deck and a simple interface kit. Finding a dash kit for the F-150 is trivial and everyone has one. So, if we want to upgrade the truck, that is just a matter of forking over the resources.

So, it seems that if I want this capability in the bimmer, I will have to replace the factory deck. A query to the Best Buy install technician (I actually talked to a certified installer) yielded that the issue would be a dash kit. So, tomorrow I will make a couple of phone calls and see if I can find a dash kit for the bimmer. If I can find a dash kit, then I think I will do the bimmer first. I can follow up with the truck later because I think we will be driving the bimmer more on long trips to save fuel costs.
