Monster iCruze

CompUSA is running an advertisement this week in which is listed the Monster iCruze. Wife and I drove over to the store because I am interested in getting decent tunes in the Bimmer.

We browsed through all of the iPod accessories when one of the floor clerks approached us.

“Can I help you?”

“Sure. We’re looking for the new iCruze,” Wife responded. Off he went in search of the device. He could not find it on the floor so he searched through their inventory and came back after about ten minutes with a box.

In the box were the cables that allow you to connect part of the system to the automobile’s sound system. No joy. After a bit of searching on the web, I showed him that there were more parts to the system. I also found out what I would need to connect it to my Bimmer.

Unfortunately, this particular clerk was clueless. I guess he had not had enough time to become familiar with the new system. Apparently it is so new that they had not even put it out on display.

I am not sure it is what I want anyway. It is pretty expensive, nearly $400 for the system configured for the Bimmer. The BMW harness is about $150 and will allow five or six playlists to be played, selectable through the steering wheel or CD player controls.

Then again, I might just buy an iTrip and work wirelessly for awhile until I get everything sorted out.

  1. I always thought it was “Beemer”. — Dazed n Confused    1 March 2005, 14:19    #

  2. I think that the bikes are called Beemers and the cars are called Bimmers. But, I don’t really know. :) ruminator    1 March 2005, 23:31    #
