Settling In

I’m settling into my new software nicely. It feels like I just remodeled my home—new software, new structure, new design.

My head is still spinning after all the work. That was intense. I don’t do things a little bit at a time; I work by immersion in a project. That tends to drive my loved ones nuts because I focus on my project and just about nothing else exists during that time. There are good things and bad things about that ability. The good is that I bring all of my faculties to bear on a problem, my attention becomes razor sharp. The bad is that I tend to ignore everyone, including those who mean a lot to me.

But they’re patient with me. The give me the space to work, intensely, knowing that I’ll be back in a little bit. I love them for that, and for a lot of other things.
